                              OUR REVIEW

Cinnamon and rosebuds.

Water and stone are the lifeblood of Venice.
It hits you immediately as you come out from the station - the sight of the numerous taxis, not common taxis, but small motorboats ready to ferry the tourists around. It feels like being inside an enormous maze, where, if one takes the wrong turn, you come face to face with a step and then water. Water, lots of water. It is everywhere and many homes are only accessible by boat.
When you arrive, take the “vaporetto” from Santa Lucia Station to Piazza San Marco to get your first glimpse of Venice and admire the Canal Grande, its main artery.
Venice is not comparable to anywhere else. For the first time visitor, one cannot even begin to imagine the panoramas and views waiting to be discovered.
Take a wander through the “calli”, “campi”, “campielli” and alleys of this magical place, and you will experience new emotions never felt before: you will discover hidden corners, picturesque views and melting moments, enough to lose all sense of  time. There are still antique shops, master glass makers, textile craftsmen that weave precious velvets, gold and silver threaded cloth and abundant displays of silks and damasks that will bewitch the traveller just as they did in Marco Polo’s time.
This city has an incomparably beautiful landscape, but above all its beauty lies in its art - magnificent monuments, churches, palaces and prestigious museums that are home to priceless works of art.
Dorsoduro, one of the most exclusive areas in Venice, is a jewel-box of artistic treasures.  Walking through it, your path will be punctuated by historical palaces, museums, lively “campi”  and charming little corners. Dorsoduro has always been the “sestiere” most favoured by artists.
A cinnamon scent will envelope you from the very first moment you enter Cà Maria Adele and, together with a light background of classical music, will keep you company during all of your stay. This 16th century ancient residence has been recently transformed into a small, elegant and exclusive hotel with a privileged view over the Canal Grande and the Chiesa della Salute and has a private quay that allows gondolas and motorboats to berth directly at the main entrance.
On arrival you will feel as if you are being wrapped up in a warm embrace: an intimate, discreet and friendly atmosphere will surround you until your departure. You will begin to discover the beauty of Cà Maria Adele immediately on entering the reception area, with its Venetian mosaic floorings, refined wallpaper and the rose buds and cinnamon sticks in matching delicate light salmon colours that are dotted about in precious small vases and crystal glasses.
This elegant “house” marries clean and modern lines with the fascinating history of Venice, and in the bedroom you will dream of modern and ancient fables full of all the sumptuous luxury that can only be found in Venice.
You will be welcomed on arrival, with a goblet of champagne and delicate chocolate biscuits. This is served in the lounge, where you will find valuable bound books, crystal vases and glasses, unusual lamps and one wall covered in a dark brown soft velvet like fondant chocolate.
The bedrooms are themed and in typical Venetian style: precious textiles, velvets and brocades, tall, large beds and splendid Murano chandeliers matching the colours of the rooms and their respective bathrooms where you will find the most luxurious courtesy set.
The magnificent “Camera Rossa” is dedicated to the Doge and is decorated in red velvet from floor to ceiling, with an enormous glass chandelier purposely created for this sumptuous room.
The splendid room dedicated to the “Mori” of Venice is decorated entirely in blue.
The “ Camera Nera” sensuous and voluptuous, is on two levels with ivory coloured tulle drapes that cover the ceiling and gather at the centre of the room creating a flower, from the middle of which hangs a large chandelier with black drops.
For people who prefer simpler lines, room 336 is the ideal. Here the minimalist style marries old and modern décor, with changing hues of ivory, beige, and moka finally reaching a rich coffee brown. The ceiling has beautiful exposed beams, the floor is  carpeted and a hydro massage bathtub with chromotherapy sits at the foot of the large bed that dominates the room from a raised dais.
In this small, intimate and very romantic jewel you will be able to choose where to have breakfast: in your room, the lounge, or the Moroccan style terrace furnished with rattan sofas and soft pillows and a panoramic vista over Santa Maria della Salute. Should you prefer, you may also choose the first floor hall – here, in the middle of the main wall, hangs a large black and white photo of some ladies wearing the most elegant evening dresses you can only dream of, underneath a magnificent and imposing hand made Murano glass chandelier,  originally crafted  by the family’s own glass works.
Breakfast will be served with great attention to detail and will consist of bread, butter and jams, honey, yogurt, fresh eggs with bacon, cereals, fresh fruit, salumi and, if you so wish, prosecco.
When it’s time for dinner, take a short walk to the nearby small restaurant “Linea D’ombra” with views over the Giudecca and San Giorgio. It has a modern but warm atmosphere and you will find young, kind and cordial staff serving beautifully presented delicious dishes both fish and meat based.
Start with an aperitif, perhaps the classic “Spritz”- a glass of white wine with a shot of bitter and selz,  followed by “strozzapreti” with smoked scamorza cheese and “radicchio travisano”, shells filled with leek “vellutata” and liquorice powder, all accompanied by a great tasting Rosé wine: the “Bucciato”.
Then, when you finally go back to the hotel, you will be greeted by scented rose petals scattered over the freshly made bed, and a fresh and delicate surprise that ................... you will have to discover for yourself!
